How to ensure colour contrast accessibility
To make sure that the content of your webpage can be viewed by all users there are contrast requirements. Contrast is measured by the brightness between 2 colours. This is indicated as a ratio ranging from 1:1 (e.g. white on white) to 21:1 (e.g., black on white). It is important to remember that for accessibility:
- the minimum contrast ratio of text and images of regular text is 7:1
- the minimum contrast ratio of text and images of large text is 3:1
- text found within a logo or brand name does not have a requirement
- avoid using cursive or fancy fonts
